When I started Rushmere Soaps I was determined to do my best to keep the business impact on our environment as low as possible.
I also wanted to make a positive change by helping to plant trees in areas that have suffered from deforestation and to support eco projects around the world which help reduce the impact of CO2 emissions.
How Many Trees?
To date, as a business I have paid for 1300 trees to be planted in projects located in Mozambique, Bolivia, Ethoipia, Peru, Madagascar and Kenya.
What projects have you contributed towards?
Rushmere Soaps has also donated money which has resulted in 10 tonnes of carbon reduction. To help you visualise the impact this has, it is equivalent to:
- 8 long haul flights
- 24,810 miles driving in a car
- 30 metres squared of sea ice saved
Some of the specific projects which the money has gone towards are:
Using waste biomass to product electricity in Chile. This project is preventing 250,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year.
Producing renewable wind energy in Bulgaria. This project will prevent 6 million tonnes of emissions in its 20 year lifetime.
Solar power generation in Tamil Nadu and Telangana. This project is preventing the emission of 93,000 tonnes of CO2 each year
Preserving Amazonian rainforest in Brazil. this project is preventing 27,435 hectares of native forest from being cut down.
